The most advanced robot ever sent to another world is nearing its destination, and NASA scientists and managers at a Headquarters news briefing called the Curiosity Rover mission the hardest one attempted in the history of robotic planetary exploration. Curiosity is scheduled to land on Mars in the early morning hours of August 6, Eastern. NASA astronaut and Expedition 30 Commander Dan Burbank officially transferred the helm of the orbiting outpost to Russian cosmonaut, Oleg Kononenko who, along with NASA astronaut Don Pettit and Andre Kuipers of the European Space Agency, has now begun Expedition 31.

Pratt and Whitney Rocketdyne has put together this marketing video showcasing 14 successful launches during 2011 where Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne engines powered in part the launches of these spacecraft.

Subtitled "Not Smoke & Mirrors", it appears to be a dig at competitor SpaceX who have successfully launched their last four rockets but who have infrequently launched in the last two years.
